Delphi
Tour Schedule: Delphi and Chaeronea Expedition
Duration: Full Day
1. Departure from Athens
Embark on the journey from Athens in the morning.
2. Chaeronea Stop
First stop at Chaeronea, the land of Plutarch. Marvel at the 6-meter-tall marble statue of the Lion of Chaeronea at the village entrance. Visit the Archaeological Museum.
3. Delphi: The Navel of Earth
Continue to Delphi, located approximately 180 km from Athens. Explore Delphi, one of Greece’s most sacred ancient sites and referred to as the “Navel of Earth.” Visit the Sanctuary of Delphi (4th century BC) and the Temple of Apollo. Discover the Castilian Spring, the Ancient Stadium hosting the Pythia Games, and the Athenian Treasury along the sacred way. Tour the Museum of Delphi, housing unique artifacts like the bronze Charioteer and the Naxian Sphinx.
4. Lunch in Arachova
Stop for lunch at the picturesque mountain village of Arachova. Enjoy traditional taverns and explore shops with local products. Arachova is renowned for the Ski Center at Mount Parnassus.
5. Optional (Additional Cost: 50 €)
For those interested, an optional visit to Mount Helicon and the Monastery of Osios Loukas. The monastery is famous for its mosaics and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Please note that there is an additional cost of 50 euros for this optional visit.
6. Return to Athens
Depart from the last stop and head back to Athens.
